Veterinarians/Vets
You have the right of establishment as a self-employed or employed person in a Member State of the European Union, subject to recognition of your qualification. There are simplified authorisation and registration procedures if you wish merely to provide services in another Member State

The profession of veterinarian is covered by the system of mandatory and automatic recognition of diplomas, awarded at European level for a limited number of professions.

Formalities in Spain

How to proceed

Applications for recognition should be sent to the:

  • Ministerio de Educación y Cultura
    Subdirección General de Títulos, Convalidaciones y Homologaciones
    Paseo del Prado 28, 4ª planta E-28014 Madrid

    E-mail: información@educ.mec.es

You should also apply for a residence permit to the competent authority (Oficina de Extranjeros, Gobierno Civil or Comisaría de Policía) in the province concerned.

Information and/or documents to be submitted to the competent authorities 

You will have to produce inter alia the following:

  • your passport or other identity document,
  • your diploma or an equivalent certificate,
  • a certificate of good character and good repute.

Fees 

PTA 865 for your residence permit; the recognition procedure is free of charge.

Reference documents 
  • Royal Decree 766/1992, as amended by Royal Decree 737/1995 on the entry into Spain and residence in Spain of nationals of European Union Member States and of other states party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
