Gay Associations Spain and the Costa Blanca

Casal Lambda: Gay and lesbian association in Spain offers a space for meetings for gays and lesbians as well as a centre for information and documentation. It offers counselling and information, promotes meetings, associations and solidarity among gays and lesbians and works to make public institutions, political parties and society in general aware of gay and lesbian concerns.

Association Colega: Provides information and support to gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transexuals across Spain. There are provincial groups, including one on the Costa Blanca, that meet regularly and organise events.

Age of Consent

The age of consent in Spain is 13, as specified by the Spanish Penal Code, Articles 181(2) and 183.

Homosexual acts have been legal in Spain since 1822 (with the exception of the offence of "habitual homosexual acts" in the years 1928-32). A new Criminal Code was introduced in 1995 which specified an age of consent of 12 under Article 181f for all sexual acts; and this was raised to 13 a few years later.

Same Sex Marriage in Spain

Spanish law has made same sex marriage legal since June 2005.
