offer free entry to all visitors Museums on the Costa BlancaBelow are details of the main museums on the Costa Blanca. Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante: The Museo Arqueológico Provincial de Alicante (MARQ) exhibits archaeological artefacts from Prehistory, Iberian culture, Roman culture, the Middle Ages and the Modern Age. Visual,. light and sound effects are used to recreate conditions in these historical periods. Guided tours are available. Visitors may also purchase family tickets, which allow accompanied children under the age of 15 to enter the museum for free. The Friends Card entitles the holder to free entry to the museum for a month, regular updates and discounts on courses organised for the public.
The Gravina Museum of Art: Opened in December 2001, the Museo Bellas Artes Gravina displays a collection of Alicante artwork dating from 16th to 20th centuries. Its oldest and most valuable work is a painting of the Crucifixion. Entry to the museum is free. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, musical and cultural events.
Municipal Festival Museum: The Museu Municipal de la Festa is dedicated to the Misteri d'Elx or Elche's mystery play.
Dénia Toy Museum: The Museo del Juguete traces the history of toy production in Dénia from 1904 to the 1960s. A collection of metallic and wooden toys are displayed showing the importance of this industry to the city. Entry to the museum is free.
The San Juan Bonfires Museum: The Museo de Hogueras/Museu de Fogueres is dedicated to the Hogueras de San Juan Fiesta and other Costa Blanca festivals. It displays several ninots indultats (papier mâché figures that have been saved from the fires), photographs and festival costumes. There is also a video room showing highlighted footage of the festival.
